Domestic Abuse is a pandemic that begun long before Coronavirus ever came into existence and yet many don't know where to turn so below are links to services in a large variety of countries. Natasha knows how isolating and degrading abuse can be, not to mention the frustration and emotional strain that leaving and processing events can be on a victim.
For example, as Natasha says, "When was the last time someone told you that it's not you that is the problem, it's your abuser. Good people do not go around hurting other people. It is not your fault and you have nothing to be ashamed of. Too often women are forced to feel embarrassed of the abuse they suffer."
"Why didn't you just leave?" - quite possibly the most unhelpful thing that can be said to a survivor which Natasha has a strong opinion on, "Until you have felt the fear, panic, doubt, hopelessness and 50 other emotions experienced in that situation they can never understand. Again this is a reflection of them and not of you. Do not allow anyone to own your pain."
Through her social media channels and interviews with other inspirational people, Natasha seeks to share the power of mindset, ease the confusion and self judgement of victims as well as spread the knowledge of Refuge's National Helpline and their website www.nationaldahelpline.org.uk which has a wealth of information, support and a contact form for women who may be unable to phone the helpline.
Working together we can help spread the word of their work, ensure women can access vital support and support each other as we grow. Follow Natasha on her social media or sign up to her newsletter. Feel free to reach out if you need support and remember, no matter how much it feels like it, you are not alone.
